HMM 2009 - Session KB

Chair: M. Donahue

The organizers of HMM-2009 are proud to present our second keynote speaker, Luis López-Díaz. His address is Modeling spin transfer induced dynamics; Interplay between micromagnetics and other simple models .

Luis López-Díaz received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the University of Salamanca in 1995 and 1999, respectively. As a graduate student he spent a year at the Institute for Magnetics Research (The George Washington University) working under the supervision of Edward Della Torre. After finishing his PhD, he worked for two years at the University of Cambridge (Cavendish Laboratory) as a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow. Later on he went back to the University of Salamanca, where he was appointed Professor in the Department of Applied Physics in 2005. Over the last fourteen years, the research work of Dr. López-Díaz has been focused on micromagnetic modeling of dynamic processes in magnetic nanostructures. He has coauthored over seventy papers in this field and delivered several invited talks at different conferences. He has also served in the Organizing and Program Committees of several conferences and symposia, such as Intermag, JEMS or HMM. He is a member of the IEEE Magnetics Society since 2007.
